Hip & Knee Pain Treatment
Softwave TRT in The Woodlands, Texas

Pain on the outside of your hip, an aching knee on the stairs, or a joint that just won't settle down. We use Softwave TRT and hands-on care to help you move comfortably again, without injections or surgery.

When Your Hips and Knees Start Holding You Back

Hip and knee pain often comes from the tendons, bursae, and soft tissue around the joint, not just the joint itself. Those tissues can be irritated by overuse, age-related changes, or how you move.

On the outside of the hip, the gluteal tendons and the bursa over the bony point of the hip are common sources of pain, especially when lying on that side or climbing stairs. In the knee, the patellar tendon, the tissue around the kneecap, and early arthritis are frequent culprits.

The hip, knee, foot, and lower back work as one chain. A stiff hip or a weak glute can overload the knee, and a knee problem can change how you walk. Good care looks at the whole chain, not just the spot that hurts.

How We Treat Hip & Knee Pain

Softwave TRT is a core part of our joint-pain plans, combined with care that corrects the mechanics behind the pain:

1

Find the Source

We test the hip, knee, and lower back, check how you walk and squat, and use X-rays when needed to look at the joint

2

Softwave TRT

Softwave TRT targets irritated tendons, bursae, and soft tissue around the joint to increase blood flow and support repair, with no needles or downtime

3

Restore Motion

Adjustments to the hip, pelvis, knee, and lower back so the joint moves and loads the way it should

4

Build Strength

Corrective exercises for the glutes, quads, and core that take pressure off the painful area

Shockwave therapy has been studied for several of these problems, including tendon pain around the hip and knee. Results vary by condition and severity, and Dr. Etemadi will tell you honestly whether you are a good candidate. If your exam suggests a problem that needs an orthopedic opinion, such as a significant tear, we will refer you.

When to Get Medical Care Right Away

Most cases are not an emergency, but some symptoms need prompt medical attention. Contact your doctor right away, or call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if symptoms are sudden or severe, if you have:

Seek urgent care for:

  • A hip or knee that suddenly gives way, locks, or cannot bear weight after an injury
  • A hot, red, swollen joint, especially with fever
  • Severe hip or groin pain after a fall, particularly in older adults
  • Calf swelling, warmth, and pain (possible blood clot)

Hip & Knee Pain Questions

Can Softwave TRT help knee pain?
Softwave TRT is used for knee pain from tendon problems, such as patellar tendinitis, and irritated soft tissue around the joint. Many patients with knee arthritis also use it to help manage pain. Your exam determines whether it is a good fit.
Can Softwave help hip bursitis?
Pain on the outside of the hip is often driven by the gluteal tendons and the nearby bursa. Shockwave therapy is one of the non-surgical options studied for this type of hip pain, and it is often combined with strengthening exercises.
How many Softwave sessions will I need?
Most patients complete a short series of sessions spaced about a week apart. The number depends on the condition, how long you have had pain, and how you respond.
Can a chiropractor help with hip and knee pain?
Yes. Chiropractors treat the joints, muscles, and tendons of the whole lower body, not just the spine. Improving how the hip, pelvis, and knee move often reduces the load on painful tissue.
Is treatment covered by insurance?
Chiropractic care is covered by many plans, and we are in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Softwave TRT is self-pay, and the $99 Relief & Recovery Special includes your first session.
