Understanding Neck Pain
Your neck balances a 10- to 12-pound head all day and protects the nerves that run to your shoulders, arms, and hands. Small problems here can cause pain in surprising places.
Hours looking down at phones and laptops ("tech neck"), sleeping in an awkward position, stress, and old injuries all load the joints and muscles of the neck. Over time, joints can lose normal motion, muscles tighten to compensate, and discs can be irritated.
When a nerve root in the neck is involved, pain, tingling, or weakness can travel into the shoulder blade, arm, or hand. Neck problems are also a common source of headaches.

Disc-Related Neck Pain
When a bulging or herniated disc in your neck presses on a nerve, gentle adjustments alone may not be enough.
For these cases, Dr. Etemadi may recommend cervical decompression on the Accu-SPINA® System. A dedicated neck harness lets the computer gently decompress the affected level, taking pressure off the disc and nerve. It is often used when neck pain comes with pain, numbness or tingling in the shoulder blade, arm or hand.
