Pain reaching overhead, sleeping on your side, or putting on a jacket. We find out whether the shoulder or the neck is driving it and treat the cause.
Understanding Shoulder Pain
The shoulder moves in more directions than any other joint, and it relies on the rotator cuff muscles and tendons to stay stable. When those tissues are overloaded or irritated, everyday movements can become painful.
Rotator cuff tendinitis, pinching of the tendons under the top of the shoulder (impingement), and bursitis are common causes. So is posture: rounded shoulders and a forward head position change how the shoulder blade moves and squeeze the tendons.
Not all shoulder pain starts in the shoulder. An irritated nerve in the neck can cause pain over the shoulder blade and down the arm. Sorting out which one you have is the first step to the right treatment.
Pain reaching up to a shelf, brushing hair, or throwing
Aching that wakes you up when you lie on that side
Losing range of motion, such as reaching behind your back
Pain that travels down the upper arm or starts in the neck
What We Look For
Our Approach
A typical shoulder plan combines hands-on care with therapies that help irritated tendons heal:
Range-of-motion, strength, and orthopedic tests for the shoulder, plus a neck exam to rule out a pinched nerve
Softwave TRT for irritated rotator cuff tendons and soft tissue, to improve blood flow and support repair
Adjustments to the neck, upper back, and shoulder joints so the shoulder blade moves freely
If your exam suggests a full-thickness tear, dislocation, or another problem that needs imaging or an orthopedic opinion, we will tell you and help coordinate a referral.
Your Safety Comes First
